Martha A. Turnbull is the CEO and principal human resources consultant for Tamarisk Consulting. She guides many nonprofit and educational organizations with executive searches, organizational design, compensation structures, employment policies, benefit strategies, work-life balance, and employee-relations issues.
Prior to establishing Tamarisk Consulting, Marty served as Director for Human Resources at Ithaca College, and earlier as Personnel Services Manager for the European headquarters of the A.C Nielsen Company in Oxfordshire, England. Marty has been active in a variety of community organizations such as the Family and Children’s Service, the Family Reading Partnership, and Lifelong. She also serves on and is a past chair of the Tompkins County Workforce Investment Board.
Marty earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree at Cornell University. She is a member of Society for Human Resource Management and has earned the designation as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR). She is an active member of the College and University Professional Association for Higher Education (CUPA-HR) and has received the CUPA-HR Willer’s award for Outstanding Professional Contribution.
