Shelley Semmler Shelley Semmler takes great pleasure in working with ALG clients throughout every phase of the search process, helping them to define goals, source and vet talent, and ensure mutually beneficial matches between organizations and candidates alike. She manages a diverse portfolio of executive searches and has placed leaders at the country’s most recognized organizations in higher education, independent schools, national nonprofits, foundations and institutes, and more. She has an outstanding track record at ALG and in previous roles of matching talented people to the best job and considers this one of the most rewarding aspects of her career.
Shelley has 35 years of experience in the field of Advancement, including five years consulting with a wide range of nonprofit institutions and educational organizations in pre-planning and execution of campaigns. As Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Ithaca College, she led the offices of development, alumni relations, and marketing communications and completed the College’s first comprehensive campaign. Shelley previously held numerous leadership positions at Cornell University’s Development Office and for several years focused on principal gifts throughout Asia for Cornell while living in Australia.
Shelley has served on numerous non-profit boards and has done pro-bono fundraising and campaign work for a dozen or so organizations, both local, regional, and national.
She received a BA from Queens College and a MA in Teaching and Curriculum from Cortland State. She attended the Cornell School of Hotel Administration’s MPS program. She has served as a member of the CASE Commission on Alumni Relations and received the Professional of the Year Award from CASE District II in 2006.
